How a  van driving course runs

Our van driver training UK courses are bespoke to the needs of what you require and the drivers needs, the course  is road based and is taken place in the driver’s own car/van (additional charge if the tutor is required to use his/her vehicle of £30) and follows a set format described below:

Introduction and licence / vehicle checks

This allows us to ensure that your fleet van driver has the correct licence to drive the vehicles being asked to drive. We also include an eye sight check. We then go through vehicle safety checks that drivers should carry out daily when using the vehicle for work purposes.

An initial drive before the van driver training course

We ask the driver to drive as they normally do with no input from the tutor to allow the tutor to assess the driver’s experience and skills. This will last approximately 20 minutesWe then mark the driver on their driving skills and safety. This gives the tutor a base  for the development plan of the van driver training.

Coaching the van driver

Based on the initial drive and the input from the driver, the coaching with be designed around the development  areas identified. The van driver course will cover a variety of roads, such as rural lanes, dual carriageways, motorways, town and city traffic where appropriate. We provide detailed feedback on the behaviour of the fleet van driver.

Debrief

At the end of the van driver training session a two-way debrief between the tutor and driver will take place. The tutor will provide feedback on the session and work on a development plan. The tutor will then complete a report to highlight how the driver has developed in each area of their road use, safety, and fuel economy.

Risk assessment

We provide a risk assessment for each driver at the end, which will be High, Medium or Low risk. A report will be sent to you around 3 days after each training session.
